Join me on this two part tour of Enfield Town.

In this first episode, we visit the town itself. Meaning “field belonging to Enna” Enfield is mentioned in the Doomsday Book of 1086, and every period of history seems to have touched the town in some way since. Highlights include:

  • the 700 year old market place
  • A medieval church - the venue of a notable author’s wedding
  • several historic pubs
  • a 16th century school noted for a student who found fame in Hollywood
  • a stroll through charming Gentlemen’s Row
  • a bank which has the world’s first…………………

In the second episode, we explore the stunning area surrounding the town. Highlights include:

  • a river which isn’t a river!
  • two 16th century pubs
  • the stories of two of England’s lost Tudor palaces
  • Enfield’s connection to London’s only surviving historic gateway
  • a bridge which is possibly the site a famous historical event
  • A magnificent Jacobean mansion and its enchanting gardens
  • a site which you are more likely to see in Italy or France!
